In the reader article, Melissa states that "in fashion, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". In the cited youtube video, The Korean Documentary reveals capture of one man who carried famous brand names imitation bag, wallets, watches and all the other products. He carried all of his imitation merchandise in his car, his house storage where he pulled out items in a trash bag to carry to retail customers. The Merchandise was imitation of the major brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, and etc. The fact that imitation exist in lower price proves the success of one brand name. People consume imitation of brand mostly because they cannot afford to pay for such expensive cost yet they are willing to pay little less money for the same look with lower quality material.
Existence of imitation let population (of those who are into fashion) consider the original brand name with more quality thinking with the following mentality: "People make fakes because the items are so in, therefore, it's a brand name that produce all of the must have item".
In order to get rid of the rising market prices for brand names, I challenge everyone to completely boycott imitation brand names of any other products. Imitation increases the original price of brand name, causing infatuation of feeling the need to consume instead of wanting to consume.
